A key factor in successful exhibitions is creating a display that stands out from others around it. You know a good exhibition stand design when you see one. They often feel more harmonious, professional and even more exciting than the others around them.
While colours and brand storytelling play a role in this, so do the specific design features that you choose to include. Movement, for example, can create a sense of playfulness, while lighting can make a stand feel more welcoming.
By balancing specific features, colours, messages, and stand layouts, you can achieve the desired effect and impression for your stand. In this guide, we explore all the details on Quadrant2Design’s exhibition stand features and how to use them strategically to stand out from the crowd at any trade show.

Best Options for Product Showcasing
Your products are unique to you, and so, they need a unique showcasing solution! That’s why, at Quadrant2Design, we are dedicated to making sure each of our clients has the perfect showcases for their event.
We always recommend integrating the products into the stand structure, rather than using standalone product displays, as it elevates the display, ensures everything has a dedicated space, and keeps the floor space open, welcoming and tidy.
There are many different options for integrated products, each offering a different look and effect for your exhibition stand. Let’s explore the options.
Bespoke Showcases
All Quadrant2Design showcases can be completely custom-designed, altering the shape, detailing and lighting for a unique finish. They can be incorporated into the counter or used throughout the exhibition stand, adding intentional spaces to display products and merchandise. The shelving within these stands can be tilted and customised to host literature, cards, and pamphlets.
Showcases can be custom-cut into all different shapes. Some clients add intricate detailing to the showcases using apertures, others use the shape of the showcase to add interest. Some of our clients even mimic the shape of their product, creating a unique display for each of their items.
Lighting can be incorporated from overhead, from below, from the sides, or all of the above, drawing focus on what really matters: the products!

Lockable Showcases
For high-value merchandise, showcases can be lockable.
Showcases with Printed Fronts
For those who want a subtle, yet secure storage solution, lockable showcases can feature printed fronts to blend in with the surrounding graphics.
Floating shelves
Where integrated showcases house products within the stand, floating shelves offer a different look, hosting products front and centre on the graphics.
Endcap Literature Displays
Exhibitors often feel lost when it comes to placing literature on the exhibition stand. That’s where endcap literature displays are perfect, offering a dedicated slot for these promotional assets, without eating into important graphic space.
Towerfix Unit
These creative units increase showcasing space by utilising a cylindrical structure with 360° shelving and integrated lighting.
Mounted Products
Some products are best mounted directly onto the stand, rather than displayed within a showcase. We love to get creative with mounted displays.
One of our clients, LKQ, had a wide range of products to mount, some of which were quite heavy. For clients like these, we always recommend visiting the pre-build for a full dress rehearsal.

For another of our clients, Ellis Patents, we mounted magnets to hold their cable cleats throughout the show. The magnets allowed the team to remove the cleats throughout the event, to show visitors.

Customisable Counters with Printed Tops
Quadrant2Design counters are very versatile and can host products, while also serving as a reception point for your guests. They come in a range of shapes and sizes, and have customisable printed tops for QR codes, messaging and photography.
The ability to add custom showcases, extra storage space, interactive features such as mounted tablet holders, or simply using it as your first point of face-to-face contact, makes it a popular feature amongst our clients.
Baby Plinth
We are particularly fond of the baby plinth, which makes stands more dynamic, adding different levels for unique product display.
Clothing Rails
Clothing merchandise often requires a more innovative approach, incorporating heavy-duty rails for weight-bearing. We have worked with hundreds of brands to create custom clothing displays that suit their individual products.

The Importance of Movement on an Exhibition Stand
Never underestimate the effect of movement, particularly in exhibition halls, which, other than the people, are very often static. Moving elements add visual stimulation and catch the eyes of passersby.
Rotating Header
Rotating headers serve as a beacon to your stand, placing your branding high up, at either 3.3m or 4m, on a rotating base, for 360° visibility. This feature creates a point of difference on the stand and generates interest from across the exhibition hall. When embellished with lighting, rotating headers are even more powerful.
Animated Branding
Animated branding is a lighting feature that projects branding or a logo onto the stand. It can sit either static or rotating, depending on your preference.
Some lighting features risk appearing gimmicky, but this isn’t the case with animated branding. This feature creates a professional finish and adds playfulness and visual interest to any display, sparking interest among passersby.
Rotating Turntables
Use rotating turntables inside showcases to draw eyes to luxury products, and maximise showcasing space. For high-value items, you can encase these items in an acrylic casing.
Screens and Demonstration Areas
TV screens and displays can be hosted as a part of the stand structure, hosting promotional / explainer videos that add movement to the stand.
Creating Focus & Adding Visual Interest Using Lighting Features
Light is a powerful tool that, when used effectively, can enhance the atmosphere and create a variety of moods for an exhibition stand. It is one of the most effective ways to draw attention to particular messages and the display as a whole.
Backlighting is one of our favourite tools for creating visual interest and drawing focus to particular elements. Let’s explore some of our favourite examples!
Illuminated Photography
Backlit panels can completely elevate the stand. Businesses can illuminate photography or elements to create an impressive feature image.
Highlight Shapes or Keylines
Backlighting can also be utilised to add creative flair to a stand, illuminating key lines, shapes, and details to add visual interest.
For example, look how Marber uses cutout detailing and backlighting to add interest to the stand.

Or, how MSI Education added subtle touches of light to emphasise their 3D effect!

Emphasise the Brand Name
You can even illuminate your business name, drawing eyes to your brand.

Illuminating Icons to Represent Key Services & Value Propositions
This lighting feature is simple, yet effective, drawing attention to key services or values, placing important points front and centre.

Illuminated Canopy
Canopies are a versatile feature that can add interest to the stand, make spaces more cosy, and can be used functionally to bring lighting and electrics to the front of the display, without the need for a raised floor. Lighting can be added to make this feature truly unique.

Edgelit Acrylic – Effective uses
Edgelit acrylics balance etching and lighting to create the effect of a beautiful illuminated floating logo or pattern, adding a modern twist to any display.
Edgelits acrylics can be used as a standalone feature to pique attention and captivate passersby. With customisable lighting, the colour of the logo can be changed as desired.
Alternatively, they can be used to enhance a showcase, adding intrigue to the exhibition stand’s look.
Incorporating a Standout Photo-Floor
Photo-floors are a Quadrant2Design exclusive design feature. They completely transform the modular look into a cohesive, unified branded space, while also providing additional space for marketing messages and branding.
Interactive Games & Content Experiences
Your use of features is not just about getting noticed; it is also about engaging visitors in your products and services. This is where interactive games and content experiences come in, helping to entice guests and facilitate meaningful conversations.
Custom Plinko Games & Polling Setups / Giveaways
Custom plinko games have become increasingly popular in exhibition halls, as they are an engaging and versatile feature and can be tailored to any brand.
The custom game is partly so effective because it doesn’t intimidate or require skill. Sometimes, businesses employ interactive experiences that, while impressive, are too intimidating to use and actually introduce threshold barriers for guests.
Plinko games differ from these, as they strike the perfect balance, engaging visitors with a chance to win a prize, without intimidating them.
Below is an example of a custom Plinko game, created for our client Kuflink.
Polling experiences are similar and can be a great way to get visitors onto the stand, particularly when there is a prize to win!
Using a similar setup to our Plinko game, we recently developed a new poll game for our client, RouteTrip USA. In this game, visitors could enter a competition for a chance to win a prize by placing their contact details in a split-ball and casting a vote.
The game enabled our client to collect valuable data and engage with visitors, while visitors enjoyed an exciting opportunity to win a prize.
Spin to Win
Similar to Plinko games, spin-to-win games can work as great bait, enticing people to visit your exhibition stand.
Reaction Time & Batak Games
Batak games and reaction time games are a great option for exhibitions, as they attract crowds and increase footfall. Popular versions like Batak Pro and Batak Lite allow for full branding, for seamless cohesion with the rest of the exhibition stand.
Bespoke & Custom Elements
At Quadrant2Design, we are always looking to innovate within our system, creating custom and bespoke solutions for our clients. Whether this is through innovative showcasing solutions, bespoke games or features like those shown above, or lighting effects, we are always excited to innovate.
Like this bespoke doughnut wall for La Lorraine Bakery.
Or these bespoke pole holders for Harrier Trail Running.
