The Health and Safety Event Series takes place yearly at the NEC Birmingham. It co-locates five different, but related events, including:
- The Health and Safety event
- The Fire Safety Event
- The Security Event
- The Workplace Event
- National Cyber Security Show
- Professional Security Officer Live
My colleague Maggie Clemence and I attended to experience the vibe of the show and catch up with some of our clients.
The atmosphere
The first thing I noticed when I entered the NEC was how large and busy the event was. It was vast, covering 34,000+ sqm, but I was happy to see that everything was clearly marked, which made it easy to navigate between the four exhibition halls.
All the different sections were themed, and each had a distinctive feel, with the exhibition stands varying from sleek and elegant to hands-on and interactive.
The atmosphere was energetic, I noticed that there was always something happening. Visitors were genuinely curious to find out and share what was new and innovative in their field.
It was extremely easy to start conversations with exhibitors as they were very approachable.
Jason Patton, the Head of Sales at Nimbus, told me:
The event has been incredible, I’ve got a sore throat! We’ve not stopped talking to people, we’ve been talking to customer after customer
I particularly enjoyed how professional the event felt without being stiff; everyone was kind and open to new conversations. I believe it was the perfect mix.
Quentin Evershed, Head of Retrofit Dorsets at Signet Fire, Dorplan, shared:
It’s really great to see so much enthusiasm around fire safety.
I personally agree with him. The Fire and Safety designated area was particularly vibrant and engaging, as there were great demonstrations as well as impactful stand designs.
Speaker sessions
The speaker sessions were one of the highlights. They related to great real-life examples and offered answers to Q&AS. I enjoyed how down-to-earth and uplifting many of the speakers were, and how they managed to keep the big crowd interested; it is not easy to talk in front of that many people!
One particular session that stuck with me was: “Abuse against Retail Staff is Increasing”, held by Farrah McNutt. She talked about the rise in abuse in the workplace, sharing interesting pieces of advice on how to protect people in that sector. Some real-life examples were mentioned, and I found the overall session informative and engaging.
Quadrant2Design Exhibitors
Exhibitors, including Quadrant2Design clients, attended The Safety and Security Event Series 2025 to promote their latest products or services. I could see that each stand was designed not only to showcase their latest technologies, but also to spark interesting conversations with visitors.

The team did a great job at showcasing the important values of clients in this industry.
Worth Attending?
Definitely! It doesn’t matter if you are deep in this industry or just curious about the latest technologies related to health and safety; the Safety and Security Event Series 2025 offered something for everyone.
I expected to find new products, sure–but certainly not the high level of innovation demonstrated.
I left the NEC with a better sense of this field and was grateful I had this great opportunity to network and learn from industry experts.
