Working at Quadrant2Design | Glass Door Review | Rob McDade

I’m a Design Consultant here and what we do is take the vision that the client gives us and translate that to the design team. We are making sure that the brief gets met, so our listening and understanding skills are really important followed by the way that we articulate that going forwards.

I’ve spent many years in the Sales industry from active sales right through to training starter and managerial roles.  This gives me a broad understanding of every aspect of sales, mostly in B2C but in the past few years I’ve made the switch to B2B. It’s a completely different kind of methodology, so even after all this time I’m still learning new skills every day.

With this in mind, if I had to swap roles with anyone in the company it would be with the CAD team. Simply because it’s something that I’ve never done before; it would be a challenge and I like that. Not everyone would say this, but because of how process driven I am, I enjoy the amount of processes involved to make sure that everything runs as smoothly as possible.

Outside of work, my proudest achievements I have to say are my four children; we’re one big blended family. My other passion would be travelling, there’s so much to see in the world. What I really love about it though is discovering places that I initially didn’t think I would like, but they end up being my favourite warranting a second visit!

  • Tell us a bit about your role here at Quadrant2Design

I’m a Design Consultant and the reason we’re called Design Consultants is because we’re consulting, taking the vison that the client gives us and translating that to the design team. Effectively we are new business sales as we are only dealing with new business that’s coming in. We don’t just rely on incoming; we switch it up by making outgoing calls and try to connect with marketing departments and businesses that haven’t worked with us before to see if we can help them.

  • What’s the best thing about working at Q2D?

Where I’m so geeky and process driven, I like the amount of processes involved to make sure everything runs as smoothly as it possibly can.

  • What’s your biggest achievement to date- personal or professional?

My family really and my extended family, so my four children.

  • If you had to swap jobs with anyone else in the company who would it be and why?

My answer to that would be doing the CAD and design side of things, simply as it’s something that I’ve never done before and it’s such a nice thing.

  • When you’re not working what can you be found doing?

Spending a lot of time at the gym, I’ve lost a lot of weight over the years and now it’s become a lifestyle change.

  • Tell us something that we don’t know

My biggest passion at the moment is travelling and going to places that I’ve never been to before. My wife and I have a bucket list of places that we plan to visit in the next 15-20 years.

  • Coffee or tea?

Coffee without a doubt, but lemon and ginger tea every morning and after 2pm it’s green tea.
