An ATA Carnet is a physical international customs document that allows for the duty-free and tax-free temporary import of goods to other countries that are a part of the ATA Carnet system.

Essentially, it’s a “passport for goods” which allows you to bring exhibition stands and equipment, in and out of the country, without paying customs duties and taxes.

When You Need an ATA Carnet: 

You need an ATA Carnet when transporting goods like professional equipment, commercial samples or items for trade shows across international borders for temporary use.

Conditions of the ATA Carnet: 

An ATA Carnet has many conditions, one being that the goods must be temporary imports and must be re-exported in their original state within 12 months without being processed, repaired, or sold.
