DSEI 2025, the UK’s largest and most significant event for the global defence industry, just took place at ExCeL London. Every other year, the world-renowned event unites the defence industry with the mission of promoting the UK’s defence ethos, agenda and leadership, while encouraging opportunity and cooperation with global allies.
This year’s event hosted over 1,600 exhibitors, 45,000 visitors and representatives from more than 90 countries. We had 18 clients at this prestigious event, spanning the aerospace, land, manufacturing, medical, naval, space and tech zones. Maggie Clemence, our Media Manager, attended the event to explore its value and the importance of strong brand representation.
What was DSEI Like?
DSEI was an amazing exhibition to attend. The number of exhibitors alone was impressive. We work day in and day out in the exhibition industry, and it’s rare to see an event that fills every single hall in ExCeL, let alone filling the halls with tanks, drones, and missiles.
As DSEI is biennial and unique within its industry, exhibitors come charged and ready to make the most of it. Energy runs high, and there are plenty of demonstrations to get involved in. We particularly enjoyed the Royal Marine Band Service, which brought the show to life!

The Value of DSEI
Exhibitors had nothing but good things to share about DSEI. Its value for companies working within this industry was undeniable.
You have quite a wide profile and demographic from different areas of the industry within the UK but also Europe: Germany, Sweden, Switzerland, Africa, and all over the world.
Alex Malcolm, VadatechIt's very much with commercial procurement in mind, and so you can have more productive and meaningful discussions.
Ben Stancliffe, STS DefenceThis show has been extremely busy, we've had a lot of traffic at the booth today!
Amber Contant, Gooch & HouseGoWe already confirmed our presence for the next show. So, you know how good it has been!
Raissa Nelson, Sarkar TacticalDesigning for The Defence Industry
Exhibition stand design in the defence industry is unlike that of other industries. The show’s audience ranges from government delegates and procurement officials to military personnel. Unlike consumer and commercial events, where buyers focus on design, innovation, or even user-appeal, DSEI buyers are concerned with product specifications, safety, mission alignment, and credentials. For the greatest impact in the hall, the exhibition stand designs must cater to these requirements.
Quadrant2Design exhibition stands are particularly effective for “money or your life brands”, as compelling graphics can tell a story, set context, and communicate credentials. Maggie interviewed a range of our clients about their unique designs. Here’s what they had to share!
I was totally blown away by the stand, it was even better in real life than it was on screen!
Rory Wells, Second Front SystemsVisibility in The Hall
At events as busy as DSEI, visibility and height, in particular, are a must! In her interview, Raissa shared the importance of height and clear branding when making a point of difference in the hall.
We've had some great discussions with walk-ins, as well as pre-book meetings. It's really great how tall it is, and you did a very good job, We're really standing out, popping out from everyone else. And I think the colours are amazing. Everything looks really, really good.

Custom Features: Photo-Floors, Graphics, Showcases
DSEI has thousands of exhibitors. Without strategic design, businesses can begin to blend together. In conversation with Maggie, Amber discussed the custom features that help products and branding pop, extending the Gooch & HouseGo look all the way to the custom printed floor.
Everybody here loves it. [The stand] really showcases our branding. We have a custom floor which perfectly matches our branding and website. All the imagery, conveying space, aerospace, the custom cases with our projects, it all shows off what we have to offer. It's one of our favourites.
Amber Contant, Gooch & HouseGo
Dil also praised the customisability of the stand, alongside the flexibility that comes with modular.
It's bright, it's vibrant, it's adaptable, and we've been able to get it designed just as we want it, and redesign it as well. Looking around at the other stands, I do see that ours is better, it's got these unique parts to it.

While we’re on the topic of unique elements, custom photo-floors were a significant talking point among each of our clients.
The floors, which extend the 100% graphic look with branding, imagery and marketing messages, complete every stand space!
Stuart McAndlsih Hill from Evolve Dynamics was particularly pleased with the custom floor, which created an impressive, eye-catching final look.
I love the floor, I think it's really good. The floor space is developed, [...] and being able to really showcase the points with our brochures and have it highlighting who we are has been really important to us.
Stuart McAndlsih Hill, Evolve Dynamics
The businesses in this video all opted for Quadrant2Design’s modular, sustainable exhibition stands, which are unique in their ability to host custom features.
High-impact panoramic graphics meet custom and bespoke elements, elevated with lighting to make an unforgettable branded display that also makes business sense.
Clean, Clear & Open Stand Design
As delegates at these shows are primarily focused on credentials, many exhibitors prioritise clean and clear branding. Ben Stancliffe from STS Defence agrees with this ethos, with focus being clear messaging and a bright, welcoming look!
It was important for us to be clean and open, which I think we have achieved. [...] It's a feeling that we're open for business!
Ben Stancliffe, STS Defence
Lighting as a Point of Difference
In the video, Alastair Balmain from Draken shared the intentions behind his compelling exhibition stand design. He wanted a “high-impact stand, one that drew the eye and one that got the brand messaging across very strongly”.
There were a few features on the stand that helped bring this vision to life, one of the most significant being the “fantastic set of backlit icons”. This lighting feature is very versatile; it can be used to illuminate full graphic panels, key information or iconography as seen on the Draken stand!

Making Sustainable Choices When Exhibiting
Sustainability was a popular topic among exhibitors at DSEI, as exhibitors discussed reusing their modular exhibition stands. Many highlighted how reconfigurable designs not only reduce waste but also cut costs and time, while supporting long-term environmental goals.
For us, when we chose to use Quadrant, I'm not lying, the fact that we can take it down and stuff is reused for us is hugely appealing. Because I have been to shows before, we have done shows before where we specified a custom-built stand which was fully made with plywood, wood, and at the end of the show, they just got their hammers out and smashed it to bits, and I don't think that's the way to go - it's not. There's a better way of doing it. This is only a temporary thing, it only needs to be up for five days, and then we can reuse it!
Alastair Balmain, DrakenA Reliable Partner
When your industry’s most pivotal show is only held every two years, it’s important to make it count. This does not just mean having an exhibition stand design that packs a punch, but also a partner which can deliver every single time. This means in-house production, a full pre-build, an experienced installation team and expert project managers.
If you haven’t already seen our September prep video, it highlights all of the steps we took to make sure that every one of our exhibition clients was 100% satisfied with their exhibition stand.
Here are some lovely words from Raissa!
It has been so easy from the start. It was so nice that I had a dedicated team for each part of the process, and everyone was so professional. We had a plan and deadlines for each part and everything was so smooth.
Raissa Nelson, SarkarLastly, Dil shared insights into his experience with our team:
The Quadrant2Design team have been great to work with, the personnel, the approach and the service overall have been great.

A Wrap on DSEI
DSEI 2025 was primarily focused on preparing the future force, and by bringing these businesses together at ExCeL, the event was able to make a brilliant impact.
We had a fascinating time at the show. We loved catching up with our clients about their stand and the event, but also about each of their unique offerings, from aerospace equipment to defence software!
It may be a long while until DSEI 2027; however, we are excited to see our clients reconfigure their stands through 2026 and 2027.
