Andrew Simpson Sailing Foundation receive a Guinness World Record

Bart’s Bash is a global sailing race that raises money for the Andrew Simpson Sailing Foundation, in memory of Andrew ‘Bart’ Simpson, an Olympic Gold Medallist who tragically lost his life during the America’s Cup in 2013.

The Andrew Simpson Sailing Foundation stand made a real impact at the London Boat Show

The race took place on the 21st September 2014 and saw over 700 sailing clubs, from over 68 different countries, each take part in their own race, wherever they were in the world. This amounted to a total of 30,734 sailors, sailing 87,228,403 metres around the world, in memory of Bart. Our very own Paul Chamberlain, Production Director here at Quadrant2Design, came 7,633rd, in last year’s race!

Sir Ben Ainslie, a founding trustee of the charity, was at the show to receive the award on behalf of the organisation. “Initially we weren’t sure if we would make our target of 2,500 boats on the water. In fact it was nearly 10,000! It is a real reflection of how much Bart meant to people across the world, and how sailing can unite people.”

We are so pleased that the Andrew Simpson Sailing Foundation are doing so well and look forward to supporting them, with their wonderful work, in the future.
